Kansai - Concord Reviews

When I want something healthy but tasty... I'll typically hit this place up. They're one of the better Japanese restaurants in the area. Plus, their prices are a lot more reasonable than most of Japanese restaurants in the area. Plus the quality is very good and fresh. Also, the staff is always helpful and friendly. You know it's bad when they almost know your order by heart . At least parts of it. LOL!

Another Happy Hour meal. We might have over ordered but really enjoyed our dining experience. We had our usual Chirashi bowl (good selection of fish), veggie tempura, the Japanese pickles, and the John Roll (very large!). The pickles were very nice. Service was efficient, as always.

I really enjoy the 3-combo plate at Kansai. They offer big portions and soup with your "to-go" orders. I ordered teriyaki chicken, california roll and mixed tempura. The food was fresh and flavorful. It was enough to feed 2 people. I will be back for more delicious food. TWO THUMBS UP!

Service is always great. We are always greeted with a smile regardless if its slow or rush hour. They are also very tentative and patient. Restaurant is spacious with a bar seating. Lots of room to walk around tables and booths. Do wish the lights were a bit brighter. Some dishes comes with miso soup or miso soup + salad. Helps fill the stomach a bit before enjoying their sushi. Selection of rolls are great. Really enjoyed the Newport Roll the most out of all choices. They are packed with flavor literally and figuratively. Their Nigiri Mix/Combo is also good and filling. Their Sushi and Sashimi for $40 is totally worth it. The sashimi was so fresh and so good and it just melts in your mouth like butter! 3 big slices of tuna, yellowtail and salmon sashimi with 8 different nigiri and 8 CA rolls. Their sushi boat (Medium is $120 / Large is $140) may be pricey but it comes with a lot of slices/pieces. Do watch out for their unagi though as there are bones in them still. But all other types of fishes were great especially the salmon pieces. Highly recommend their chirashi bowl $($30) or 2 item bento box ($19). Both are worth the amount and the price point. This will be a regular spot for us if we crave for sushi which is quite often.

We just happened to stop by this parking lot near Shop and Park as my friend was looking for an EV charger for her car as the other shopping center nearby had chargers but they were all in use. This shopping center has at least 4 chargers, 2 cars to each charger so that's great and there were Asian restaurants nearby so we decided on Kansai Concord! I used to frequent the one in Oakland so I was wondering if they were connected. It was after 1 PM so we had no problem getting a comfortable booth and it was spacious and cool inside. My friend ordered the lunch bento special which was chicken teriyaki and California rolls, soup and salad included. I ordered the two item bento with salmon sashimi and salmon teriyaki and it also came with soup and salad. The salmon sashimi was fresh and the salmon teriyaki moist and tender! And the prices for the lunch bentos were reasonable! We will surely come back here the next time we are in the area!

We have been here maybe three times. The wait staff-host might try to point you to sit in a crowded area next to noisy customers to save them some walking (do a Nancy Reagan and "Just Say No') and the pumped in music might be a little loud (I always carry earplugs for cases like this) but overall I like the place. The sashimi tastes fresh to me and the food items are plated professionally. The service is attentive and the place is pretty clean. Today I noticed they have a semi secluded room where you can hold a private party for about 18 diners. There are many shops, markets and restaurants that you can also explore just footsteps away. Pretty much a nice place to dine and the experience from visit to visit is consistently pleasant. The fact that employees always take the time to say Thank You for our business on our way out sealed their solid four star rating for me.

Kansai is a solid choice for a casual sushi dinner or happy hour. While the fish quality isn't the most amazing, their happy hour deals and friendly service make it worth it. There's a good selection of rolls and sashimi/nigiri or cooked dishes on the menu. The service and atmosphere is great; there's almost never a wait since it's a pretty large location. If you're looking for a place with a relaxed atmosphere and affordable sushi, it's definitely worth checking out.

We were in the area and decide to stop into Kansai. There is plenty of parking available, but the closer spots might be taken during peak hours. It's a very spacious restaurant with modern decor. It can accommodate a few large parties. The bento box I got had salmon sashimi, tonkatsu, and salmon teriyaki. The sashimi tasted fresh and were decent cuts. Overall, it was pretty good.
